Watch This Artist: Nujud Altammami

Today we have the pleasure to introduce you to Nujud Altammami, a Riyadh-based artist. Her oeuvres consist of abstract and acrylic pouring paintings. She is a certified trainer from the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, as well as a member of GSFT. Nujud has a degree in Business Administration and Marketing but practices art as a way of escapism.
Mathqaf: Nice to meet you! Who are you?
Nujud: My passion and talent began to emerge from a young age, my father is also an artist so that has helped me grow up in the artistic environment and start learning about arts at a young age. l devoted much of my time and energy practising arts, then I began teaching arts and providing training workshops in pouring painting art.
Mathqaf: Where and what did you study?
Nujud: I have studied business administration and marketing in Riyadh.
Mathqaf: Tell us about your practice.
Nujud: In the beginning, I have started pouring acrylic art and then I have developed my art by creating an idea and story from my artworks by drawing on the painting after it is completely dried.
Mathqaf: What do you listen to when you work?
Nujud: I’m not the type of artist who listens to classical music when I am painting actually. I may be the only artist who listens to audiobooks and I enjoy it a lot.
Mathqaf: How has your practice changed over time?
Nujud: In the beginning, I drew with pencil, then I transitioned to painting with acrylic on canvas, and finally I implemented the technique of ‘pouring acrylic’ merging pouring with painting.
Mathqaf: Lastly: why do you do what you do?
Nujud: Art is my run away from everything, I consider myself lucky for being able to practice it.
