Watch This Artist: Hind Bouqartacha

Today we have the pleasure to introduce you to Hind Bouqartacha, a Rabat-based photographer and videographer. Hind fell in love with photography in 2013, while studying for her Master’s degree in Cinema Documentary in Tetouan. Since then, Hind has experimented with portraiture as well as with conceptual, commercial and editorial photography, working with a number of international and local clients including Dove, My Kilim and Sissi Morocco.
Mathqaf: Nice to meet you! Who are you?
Hind: I am Hind, a 32-year-old soul from Rabat, Morocco.
Mathqaf: Where and what did you study?
Hind: I hold a Master’s degree in Cinema Documentary from Tetouan, Morocco.
Mathqaf: Tell us about your practice.
Hind: I’m a full-time photographer, videographer and entrepreneur.
Mathqaf: How do you work?
Hind: I work on commercial and editorial photography for clients and collaborate with models. Once in a while I work on more personal photo-documentary projects.
Mathqaf: What do you listen to when you work?
Hind: It all depends on the mood or what I’m working on. If I’m on a photoshoot, I usually let the models pick their songs to ease the air and let them relax. If I’m working alone, for instance retouching or editing, I either listen to some indie artists like Son Lux or the opposite and play endlessly The Weekend’s latest album – it’s all about the mood.
Mathqaf: What work do you most enjoy doing?
Hind: I love shooting portraits.
Mathqaf: What is your dream project?
Hind: All the projects I have worked on have been dream projects in some way. They are projects I’ve dreamed of creating, and the reward for me is to see them come to life.
